To do

The cocktail hour is the time from when the ceremony ends to when the reception begins. During this time the bride and groom are taking pictures with family and the bridal party. The cocktail hour will be at the reception venue. Though it’s called a cocktail hour, it could be a little longer than an hour depending on whether the ceremony was off-site. By the time the cocktail hour starts, everything should be set up and in place for guests to enjoy. If the reception is nonalcoholic, you will hear this time referred to as a welcome hour. The cocktail hour will have appetizers, refreshments, and games.
Be sure to ask the planner what your role should be when setting up, but here are some tasks that might come up:
- Lighting candles
- Welcoming guests
- Bringing the couple beverages
- Bringing the couple apps
- Making sure the bride’s dress is bustled
